A lot has happened in the last 2 weeks!!! On Monday of last week, my 7 year old son broke his arm, which required surgery the next day. A plate and 4 screws later.....he is good as new :) Well.....maybe, it turns out that he fractured his ulna bone (lower bone in forearm)- which popped the radius bone out of socket. Once surgery occurred, the radius bone went back into place- but then we found out that his radial nerve had been traumatized.....so now- he can barely move the fingers of his left hand. He will get it back- but it will take time and therapy.....unfortunately, he is left handed. So, he is becoming ambidextrous :) He got his hard cast on today, which means he can now participate in PE and recess.....which is all he cared about anyway:)

Now, on to my news....

Two days ago, I got the devastating news that I had melanoma.....actually a "spot" of melanoma on my leg. The Dr informed me of the biopsy results on Monday, and on Tuesday, I was in his office having a chunk taken out of my left calf. My Dr did a wonderful job, and I should only have a 2 inch scar. So far, the incision is healing nicely....my kids were pretty impressed with my stitches when I showed them tonight:) I am trying to be totally positive about this. It was a warning to me that I need to take better care of my skin.....I always worried about my skin "aging", but now I know, that is only a piece of the puzzle. This is my LIFE we are talking about! I have seen the last inside of a tanning bed.....I am officially the queen of fake tan and sunscreen.

God sent me a message....and I am listening

All of this came about because I decided I should have a baseline check of all the moles on my body. I highly recommend that everyone do this.....it saved my life! I have had this spot on my leg for about 4 to 5 years and ignored it until it started growing rapidly....don't wait, have your check done today!

So, even though all this stressful stuff has happened to me in the last week.....I am SO very thankful for my friends and family this holiday season! I wish all of you a VERY Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! Be thankful for all the blessings in your life...I know I am :) Train hard, No excuses! Love you all,

Tami

p.s. Everyone check out my buddy Tanji Johnson on American Gladiators starting on January 6th on NBC!!!! She is "stealth" and she totally rocks! I am SO proud of her!
